How to be a great candidate

This month we're sharing a few of our top tips to help candidates show off their potential to us as an agency and also future employers. Whether you're just starting on your job-hunting journey, or fully into the process, take a moment to think about how you show up...

  1. Confirm Receipt: Always verify our team has received any updated application documents to avoid missed opportunities. A quick email check-in helps tremendously.
  2. Align Fit: As we prepare for interviews, tell us what encouraged you to apply so we can accurately position your background to potential employers. Tell us about aspects of certain roles that motivated you.
  3. Ask Insightful Questions: When we are preparing you for an interview, have thoughtful questions lined up. Enquire about learning and development opportunities, company ethos, growth paths, strategic plans and about navigating any recent industry challenges.
  4. Mind the Gaps: If you have employment gaps on your CV, be ready to briefly address reasons so you control the narrative proactively, avoiding any rejections due to assumptions.
  5. No Ghosting : If your situation changes and you’re no longer interested post-interview, let us and the employer know professionally so we can manage expectations and next steps. Ghosting us or the potential employer is unprofessional.
  6. Express Appreciation: Send your interviewers quick thank you notes after interviews. This extra effort leaves a great final impression on the client.
  7. We've created a Candidate Decision Tree which you can access by clicking the button link below. It's designed to help you get your thinking straight before applying for a new job. There are no right or wrong answers, it's entirely personal, but it will help you get clear on:
