My crystal ball is out again!
What will happen to recruitment in 2024?
I think that we'll still see a very active recruitment market, but things will settle to some degree, perhaps to the pre-covid levels and not the extremes we've seen since then.
➡️ Strategic partnerships between recruitment agencies and their clients will prosper with agencies adding more value to their client's business growth strategies.
➡️ Partnering with a local recruitment agency such as Aspire Jobs will be invaluable. Local agencies with excellent reputations have their finger on the pulse of the local employment scene and have access to a curated pool of talent. Worth its weight in gold!
➡️ Whilst AI will continue to evolve and become part of our daily lives at home and at work, the personal touch will become more important than ever. There are just some things that an algorithm or computer program cannot replicate.
➡️ I see that multiple job offers for candidates will continue to be the norm. The pace will still be fast with plenty of jobs on offer.
➡️ Equality, Diversity and Inclusion will still be a hot topic for 2024. If you want to understand more about how to review your practices and processes in line with EDI, please get in touch with us.
➡️ Employer branding and approach to EDI and CSR will continue to be important to candidates in 2024 and form part of their decision-making process for selecting a new job role.
➡️ Legislation changes are on the horizon. The biggest is the UK’s upcoming Employment Relations (Flexible Working) Act in 2024 which allows employees to request changes to their work patterns twice a year from day one of employment. Despite expedited response times being reduced from three months to two, employers can still deny requests based on eight permissible reasons.
So that's my take on what I think. There may be points that I have missed, so please do feel free to contact me.
I'm more than happy to talk to clients who looking to recruit in 2024 who are unsure where to start or want some help with salary benchmarking, writing compelling job ads and interviewing advice. Please just get in touch.
Happy New Year!
